Reclaiming bank charges from Loyds TSb.

Hi,
I sent a letter to Lloyds Tsb last week, claiming back £320 worth of charges, and stated the Hardship waiver as in Martins template letter. This morning I have received a letter back:-
"I am just writing to let you know that we have received your complaint - and to say how sorry I am to learn that you feel you have cause to complain.
We expect our enquiries to be completed within the next four weeks, but we will try to get our response to you sooner if we can. If there is a delay, we will let you know why and we will give you an idea of when you can expect to receive a full response to your complaint.
If your complaint is about the level, fairness or lawfulness of overdraft bank charges, then a different process that we've agreed with the FSA will apply. We will write to you shortly to explain how we'll handle that complaint and what steps we will take to protect your rights. In responding to you we will also consider all the things you have raised in your letter, as well as any further information we have about your financial circumstances."
Does this sound promising, or is it a case of bullsh*t baffles brains......
Any ideas anyone.

ooooooooh sorry elsie, had exactly the same letter, sent another same respose, sent another and recieved another response basically reiterating the 'test case' thing. despite repeated requests of financial hardship waiver thing. they're one hard nut to crack it seems. drives hell in to me. but do kep on with it. My bank must have got my stroppy last letter sent yesterday by recorded delivery as they phoned me about all the arrears on my bank account (made up of charges by the way) and my loan and went totally along with my proposals with no arguements. lady on phone couldn't have been nicer. it's very odd as i've been having a battle royal with them for months with them refusing to give me any leeway whatsoever. still think it was my letter though. so will not push it again for a minute as i am having it my way which is saving me from going belly up. will just sit tight til I get some more money from other sources.
good luck with yours elsie. maybe you'll be lucky. some have.0 -
Thanks Moo Cow,
From what I can gather from this site and from my own experience, Lloyds do not give in easily. I have asked several times for them to either freeze interest on our accounts, or at least reduce them, but not succeeded. It would seem that I am going to have to be prepared to do battle with them. I have an overdraft with them on £700,
£320 of that is overdraft charges....it soon mounts up when they are charging £75 per month.......Oh well, onward and upwards....

how on earth can you get charges of 798 in a month and £10k in a few years.
dont think thats the banks fault somehow.Anyway, if its DD's cancel them now and make other arrangements to pay.
If its bounced cheques stop writing them.0 -
we had charges cleared off ours in 2006 ( £1500.00 over 9 years ) and got pushed from pillar to post but they where fine with it all.
Thankfully we are no longer with them.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0
