Broken Artificial Christmas Tree

I have a tree- only a couple of years old...thats really big and bushy but unfortunately this means that some of the plastic bitsaround the metal upstand in the centre of the tree have smashed as they can't take the weight. Its one of those trees that you put the metal branches in holes in the plastic.
Does anyone know where we can get replacement parts for Xmas trees or how we can fix? We have tried glue, tape, drilling into the metal upstand try to poke the branches through...
I know we can buy another tree - and probably will have to but its such a bad environmental act to throw this tree away...
TIA
