Consultation, Redundancy & pregnancy / Maternity leave

Hi there
For all you employment law peeps out there, i have a few questions if i may ...?
Quick background
I am in a consultation period with work at present which ends on 18th December 2008. It is quite obvious that i will proabably be one of the ones who is affected by redundancy. I start maternity leave on 10th December 2008 and my contractual notice period is 3 months.
My questions ....
1) Can they only give me notice of redundancy AFTER the consultation period (i.e. after 18th December 2008)
2) If so, i will be on maternity leave by then - so i presume that i am entitled to SMP until my return to work date of March '09?
3) As i was planning to return to work in March, would they only be able to give me notice of my redundancy at that time? Not earlier ?
4) If so, would i receive PILON at full pay (my normal salary?, or if not, would i receive just 3 months SMP as PILON ??
Any assistance you could give me would be great - ive trawled the net but its a bit of a minefield out there !!
Thanks so much

You will not find out if you are selected for redundancy until after the end of consultation, as they have to consult if making a large number of people redundant. As you will be on maternity leave, you will probably be called in to tell you their outcome. Not sure what happens about payment, as you are entitled to normally 90% of your salary for 6 weeks and then the usual £118 I think. They will not put off the decision until March Im afraid. I have been through consultation twice and my friend was recently made redundant prior to going off on maternity leave, so she has the task of finding childcare and looking for a new job in the new year. Good luck and hope it works out for you.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46
Overpayments 2006-2009 = £11985; 2010 = £6170, 2011 = £5570, 2012 = £12900
