Which wii extras to buy?

Getting a wii for daughter for xmas. What else will I need to get to go with it. I think I'm right in saying it only comes with 1 controller. If so where is cheapest to get another? I don't want to buy things she won't end up using but also don't want boxing day to come and she can't play it cos she needs something. Help please!!!

You can buy Wii play which is quite a good selection of games, this comes with a free remote.

    see http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wii-Play-Wiimote-controller/dp/B000INYT0G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1227645218&sr=8-1
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Best way to get an extra controller is to buy Wii Play as it includes a free controller and is around £26 (a controller on its own is around £28 !) , depending on the age of your daughter you may want Mario Kart it comes with a free wheel (worth £6.99) , our daughter is nearly 6 and plays it all the time.

Oh and get some rechargable batteries and charger :)
  • Like above, wii play isdefinitely a good way of getting the extra controller. Mario karts is also a good buy. These are the main 2 games my boys play along with wii fit :-)
I've bought carnival for christmas which looks quite good fun too and isn't expensive

Nunchucks are needed to enhance some games too, usually £15 each
  • Check the back of the games - there are little pictures that tell you how many players the game is for, and what you need (nunchucks are not needed for many games, just the remotes). As others have said, buy Wii Play to get the extra controller and more mini games, and Mario Kart is very popular. My lot are getting all these for Xmas. ;) If you hunt through the forums, you'll also find some bargain games. I've just got Wing Island for under a tenner, and I bought Catz in Currys the other day for the same price. Just to get a good variety of games to start with. :D

I have 2 wiimotes,2 classic controllers (for downloaded games) and 2 nunchucks.
  • My 2 boys are 11 and 8, and have loads of the accessories. We bought them the wii motes and nun chucks each, nun chucks aren't essential to every game. They have a wheel each for mario kart, which they also use on emergency heroes and can be used on other driving games. If you want extra wheels, morrisons are currently doing an unofficial version for £3.99 instore, bargain compared to the £9.99 each I paid :(
they have most the the sports add ons for wii sports and the like, which included the golf stick, tennis racket, etc. Waste of money, and are only for novelty value. They're hardly used
I bought a charging station which has a fan to cool the wii too. This is the best accessory I bought as I never have to worry about batteries. Again, Morrisons are doing an unofficial version for just £9.99. However, the silicon jackets for the wii motes have to come off or roll up for the wiimotes to charge, so they're not used any more. The silicon jackets also mean that the wii motes won't fit in the wii wheels etc.
We have Link's crossbow training, which came with the crossbow which can also be used on their Wall-e game. Again, total novelty value, and hardly used.
I bought an SD card, and have transferred pictures from my pc onto it, and they like making puzzles out of them or doodling on them. Don't go for the official wii one, as any SD card will do!
Gamecube controllers WILL fit in the wii, as will gamecube memory cards. (dont be duped by game shops into getting specialised ones!)
    Erm, think thats it!! HTH
  • Ok, Ive have purchased a Wii fit for me brothers children from shop to.net.

Wii+Fit comes with a Wii console, a Controller, a Nunchuk, Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Wii Board.

So for £239.99 + free postage, you get a Wii fit and sport in one package!!!!

Mine was delivered today, excellent service, ordered Sunday, had a text yesterday (monday) saying it had left the store, arrived today (tuesday)..

Sounds like and excellent deal!!!!!! clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

  • game is also doing a offer of buy a game ( think its a chart one with a red sticker) and get a half price accesory,

lots of games are 3 for £30, a nunchuck is £20 so you could get 2 games and a nunchuck for £40.

wii play is around £30 with a free remote.
