does anyone know of any companies that do hand held remote card processing devices for accepting visa and switch that are not too expensive to run ????

Expect to pay around £35/month for a proper chip'n'pin machine if you find the £6/month mobile WAP option (which I am using) too basic. Adelante integrate a good online system for "Customer Not Present" transactions with their mobile offering if you use the Bank of Ireland merchant service.0
