Hi All, right ive switched gas and electric, and a bank account and so far saving about £200 per annum, now I will sort the phone and insurances, cut back on Christmas and Birthdays by saving in advance and buying bargains but I reckon i can clear my Overdraft by food Budgeting!
I owe £1,500 on Overdraft, so the first thing I am going to do is eat ALL the bits and bobs stored away in cupboards and freezers! and get out of the habit of re-stocking all the things I use willy nilly!
OK some of the meals might be a bit strange to start with but I could do with losing some weight (they dont call me Hagrid for nowt!)
then I will buy more of the value stuff as opposed brand names, look for the 3 for 2`s, BOGOF`s etc!
I am also going to dig out my latest Bank statements and completley re-budget so as to know exactly where I am, and money for Christmas, birthdays, Dentistry/Opticians/Vets etc I shall work out the rough Annual spend and pay into monthly!
I shall also start selling stuff via e-bay(yes Ive read the threads!) plus items I no longer use through the local free ads paper, and car boots etc and have a Blooming good New Year Clear out!
i only discovered Martin over Christmas on the Telly and have just found this website! so am open to all money saving ideas!
regards to all, Hagrid!! :j

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

    Hi Hagrid,
I've just joined myself. I love this O/S forum, its right up my street and is exactly my principles of living!
Thought this site might help you with the contents of your storecupboard - i haven't tried it myself yet, but it looks like a good idea!
You just put in the ingredients you need to use and it makes you a recipe!

Oh, and sorry to hijack your post Hagrid, but can anyone tell me what the thanking thing is all about?! How do you do it and why?

At the bottom right hand corner of each message there's a thanks button with a thumbs up (you can only see it when you're logged in).

If you've found a post helpful, informative, supportive, amusing etc etc then click on it and you've thanked that person.

I'm sure others will go into details much better than me but I like it because I think it 'rewards' people who've posted useful information etc. I know that I love it when I come on and see my thanked number's gone up ;)

A big welcome to Old Style from me Hagrid. Have a read through the monthly challenges, they may be a bit daunting at first, but if you follow them for a while, you might just find yourself joining in - its rather addictive!
