  • ha ha sarah you are right, but then whats the point in being a miserable !!!!!! eh? Things are tight without being disastrously so and as I see it things will dramatically improve over the next 3 years. My wife works at tescos so we will be able to increase her hours without the need for childcare, thats a huge help.

    and get staff discount ?
In London, you're never more than 20 feet away from someone telling you you're never more than 20 feet from a rat .
  • oh yes, she left a better paid job in a bank (which she hated) to go to tescos as it saved us childcare and she absolutely loves it, shes doing well so im hopeful she will take the step into management at some stage too. Happy days when she can work full time again!
  • Well the good news is that you have 98 spare at the end of the month. You should easily be able to find some extra from your SOA.
Your electric is astronomical - I would look at switching as soon as you are able.
Gas you should check out switching as well.
Mobiles are also massive - is this PAYG or contract? You could make some serious savings here. If on contract phone up your provider and let them know that x,y,z company are doing the same amount of minutes for 20 and ask them to beat it. You really should not be paying so much for them to be honest. I get 300 mins and 300 texts for 10 a month which I appreciate is an amzing deal but you really need to be lowering it to 20 or less.
Groceries - again this does seem really quite high. Head over to the MoneySavingOldStyle board for ideas and inspiration on cutting that down. You could save quite a bit - especially if you have a Tesco discount.
Satelite tv is a luxury as well - you need to get that down to the basic package really - yeah it's great but that 45 a month could really get you stuck into paying off the debt - think how much interest you are paying on your debt. Save the sky for when you are in a better position.
Not meaning to be funny but you are obviously just getting by at the moment and anything could happen - if one of you was unable to work, or the price of food went up, or council tax went up you could find yourself in serious trouble.

  • Yeah thats why I felt it necessary to come join here! Its apathy that has made me skint and by actively doing something about it im sure that it will set me on the right road again.
