500 free nectar points when you spend 500 nectar points

Just had a letter from Nectar with various offers on Nectar points. They are offering 500 bonus points, one per cardholder, when you spend on these offers before 31st December. One of the offers is on Blockbuster DVD rental. As one rental costs 500 points, in effect you would get the rental free. There is also a 1 day Cannons Day pass for 2 people for 500 points and £2.50 off at Argos for 500 points. I couldn't find it on the website but on the letter it says that bonus points will be added to your account on completion of a redemption by 31st January 2009.

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Yup, thanks op. I got this offer in the post too.
You can find it on the nectar website now too:

This is a great way of getting £2.50 off something at Argos at no cost to yourself. Went to get a scooter as a pressie today and "spent" 500 points - paying the rest on my cash-back credit card. As the 500 points will re-appear on my card by the end of Jan this is Money for Nothing.
Best thing I've seen from Nectar for a bit.
NB the small print says the offer, "is open to cardholders who have received the recent direct mail or e-mail with these offers."0 -
Hi ikr2, thanks for theextra info - since I haven't received this e-mail I don't think it is worth risking my precious Nectar points!0

Last year when Debenhams did this deal with Nectar I had to email Nectar to get my points so maybe worth keeping a record of your transaction and checking your points statement. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
