Just had a thought; are any of your credit cards with Halifax or Virgin/MBNA? Reason I ask is that Halifax minimum payments are now 1% of the balance so although it mightn't help with paying off the balance, it'll leave some cash free to pay the other debts with for the short term. Virgin/MBNA are usually doing a 0% BT offer and the minimum payments on these is something like £25 per month plus interest (which if you're on 0% there won't be any of). Again, this'll help with cashflow for the short term.

Thank you Timmne, will be onto vergin to ask about this tonight, has anyone had dealing with credit card companys. Are they open to offers? Could i suggest that they give me a 6 month 0% BT even if its not on there system that i can? also would it be worth transfering the money off my credit card onto another and then back again to get the full balance at 0% for 6 months or do the 2 charges make this a pretty stupid thing to do?0

Hi,
Is your mob insurance worth the cash? I'm not sure they pay up in many situations. Are you paying insurance for anything else? If you're made redundant will it cover minimum payments? You'd probably need to look at the small print to see if they'd count you as un or under employed or whatever if you still had the second job.
If you feel you've been mis-sold insurance of any of these products you could consider reclaiming, BUT obviously if they might pay up if you are made redundant now is not the time...............
In case the worse doesn't happen with your job, fingers crossed it doesn't, why not sort out your budget anyway so that at least you're reducing your debt now.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
