hfo services (again)

hi all, i am new here, and i was just wondering if any one could give some advice,
my partner has been bothered by hfo for a few weeks. and they apparently had spoken to his father back in either june or july 2008, witch i told them, they were mistaken his father passed away about 5 years. now my partner is agreeing to the debt being his, and i just read on another thread that if the last payment was made over 6 years ago then it is statute barred. my partner is under the impression that the last payment was originally over 6 years ago, but basically they bullied him on the phone to the point where he could hardly talk any more and passed the phone to me, then bullied me backing me into a corner until i agreed to pay.
the amount i said we could afford was a minimum of £10 a month, but if we had anything left at the end of the month i would be willing to make an extra payment. i was blatantley told that that was not good enough, and that now i was going to incur all the extra charges of court costs and fees for one thing or another.
i eneded up making a payment a £266.50 and a further 3 payments in december, january and february, for the same amount, and i know for a fact we cannot afford this much.
i was going to phone them tomorrow, and ask them for the details of their complaints department, or who other than trading standards do i compian to as this owuld have been my next step along with cab. mainly because i did not like the way i was spoken to especially considering that the debt is not in my name.
i also didnt like the fact that they always rang when my partner wasnt here, and ok i know i can't prove it, but during the times they could not get a hold of my partner i was recieving up to 4 phone calls a day where the phone was hung up when i answered. the reason i believe it to have been them was because they are the only people that have rung here and have withheld their telephone number, i am not 100% sure but i thought that these companies were not allowed to withhold their telephone numbers.
i have been reading a fair amount about this companies bully tactics etc from variouse different forums, and i am trying to get some information for when i ring them, i dont know if quotes from other disgruntled people would be a good idea or not.
could i please have advice on how to handle this situation as i have been reading that they have been asking people falsley for money that has either been paid up previously or have not owed anything to begin with.
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
many thanx
kat

Firstly, do not deal with them over the phone. And, as far as I am aware they shouldn't be able to take payment from you as you are not your OH.
Have you got an address for them? Write a letter to them (recorded delivery) stating you will not enter telephone contact with them and ask theem for a CCA and a statment for the debt etc
Someone will post the letters soon am sure
