Is there any particular reason you don't want to sell it on ebay Annie123? I have had an almost identical situation, car not worth fixing at all, advised by mechanic to scrap it. Ebay happened to have a free listings weekend for cars, so we thought we'd put it on and see what happened. (We had never sold anything on ebay before! :eek:) There was a lot of interest, and it ended up selling for just over £200! The guy who bought it had a sideline in fixing up old cars, he said he would get it back to running order and re-sell it. He seemed to think he'd had a bargain, so did we, and I was also pleased that the car would be given a new lease of life and used again instead of being scrapped. :T

However if you really don't want to ebay it, I think the freecycle suggestion is a good one.

Break the car and sell bits on ebay, especially good if its a sports or luxury model with lots of fancy bits over the standard model.

The cars the the fire bridage train on normally have to come from the scrap companies, with all the fluids etc drained from the vehicle for saftey reasons.
