Police call handler - credit check?

Hi,

Just a quick question on behalf of someone else.

Would a credit check be required to work as a 999 call operator for the police?

I think it's much more likely that they would do background checks and you would have to have a checkable work history with no unexplained gaps.

That's is not a problem crb checks are clear. Credit file is good too, but there is a bit of debt registered.

tbh i think its to see if you have ccj /bankruptcy etc- ask them to clarify why the want a credit check

I don't know if the same standards apply to civilian call handlers but police officers are supposed to be credit worthy as any debts or money problems would leave them open to blackmail/corruption. I would check with the force involved.
