Calling NHS interviewers...

Hi,
I have an interview next week and am preparing myself as best I can. What would be a great help would be if someone (preferably an NHS insider) could give me any ideas of questions I will be asked, any tips etc. I am a little interview rusty.
Thanks in advance.

It is a few years since I left, but afaik the interviews are still of a standard format.
You should have a list of the key competencies required for the role. Your answers to competency based questions ('give me an example of a time when you ...') will be assessed according to this criteria.
You are also likely to be asked why you want to work in the NHS, and possibly at that particular Trust, as well as the usual 'where do you see yourself in five years time' etc. There may also be some IT specific questions, but you should be able to gauge these from the key competencies.
Depending on the grade (and staff availability), there are usually two or three interviewers. A second interview may only be one person, but there should be more than one in the first round for consistency.
I think NHS interviews are probably the most 'normal' I have come across, I would be surprised if you come across anything unusual. The thing with the NHS (and the public sector as a whole) is that they have to be transparent, so they don't tend to introduce little 'quirks' to the recruitment process unless it is really suitable.
Good luck! xGone ... or have I?0 -
They may ask which NHS IT systems that you have heard of (shows how much you know about the workings) confidentialty, health and safety, what experience you have IT wise etc etcITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

Find out what the hospital uses it for its PAS system.
Find out how many sites it has, ie will you be required to work at other sites?
Ask them what they aim for in response time, do they have a agreement with their users?
You will probably be given a scenario regarding a angry user (on the phone or in person) and how you would deal with it.
They need to know your techical knowledge, what O/S do you know. Hardware etc.
