why not type it into an internet shopping basket, say mysupermarket.com and see what it comes up with,

Not sure, the internet idea seems good. I have a great small greengrocers locally and I find I normally get one of those cotton bags full of stuff for a couple of quid! Don't get as much as that though. Greengrocers normally seem to be cheaper than the supermarkets in my experience though.

i cost it at around £8.50 if you went to the supermarket. so i dont think you paid that much more for going to the local greengrocer, its always more expensive to go there. But the quality should be better.

Not round here (Edinburgh) - the local greengrocers are almost always cheaper than the supermarket, eg: the 3 places on Argyle Place (Marchmont); Global Fruits (Tollcross); Tattie Shaws (Leith Walk) - even the Store farm shop in Stockbridge which is expensive for some things is cheaper than Tesco for in season veg (and much fresher!) eg: I was briefly in Tesco yesterday to pick up an £8 bottle of Baileys (sold out though) and they had had a bunch of organic fresh beetroot (rather sad and tired looking) for £1.65  - at The Store (farm shop, but in the city) they are charging £1.25 for a bigger bunch of organic local beetroot.

And not just Edinburgh - this is a comparison in York of local organic veg box, York market, local greengrocer, Saisnbury's and Tesco. The market was cheapest for both fruit and veg (I used to live in York and I miss that market, I used it a lot) but the greengrocer was very similar to the supermarkets - cheaper than Tesco for veg and cheaper than Sainsburys for fruit.
