Starter make-up kit advice?

My younger sister is at that age now where she would like to start experimenting with make-up. I was hoping for someone to help me what ideas to put in the kit I'm planning on gving her for Xmas.

Obviously mascara, eyeliner etc but what other basics do you think would be good for a beginner?

Thanks

Dawn

  • Non waterproof brown mascara, baby wipes, lip gloss, pretty eyeshadow, brown eyeliner, some brushes and pale pink nail polish, nail varnish remover. Should be enough to start with...

i would include a good cleanser to make sure everything is removed and a couple of mirrors -one for at home, one for on the go- and a little storage bag/vanity case...those bits will probably stay with her and be a lovely way of her reminding her of your thoughtfulness!

  • Agree with the above.... esp the baby wipes.

Although you can get lots of nice packs from Superdrug etc I wouldn't necessarily get the cheapest. Be careful you don't get anything which will irritate her face or will leave a mark i.e. lipstick that is hard to get off.

I think a couple of the good make up lines may do a selection for children.

If you get an Avon catalogue there are some nice bits in there. Maybe visit the Body Shop.

I'd also watch out for things she can't spill everywhere (i.e. dazzle dusts etc) I can just imagine the bedroom floor being covered!

    Hope that's helpful.

You could also try E.L.F website for little bits and pieces, a lot of the make up there is £1.50 and reported to be good quality.

Fantastic, thanks for all of your help everyone. You've all given me some great ideas :D
  • I would put in a nice pack of cleanser toner and moisturiser aswell as taking it off correctly is just as important as putting it on correctly.
