Finding out an old account number?

I want to find out an old account number from Capital One from a Mastercard I had with them, so I can reclaim the charges.
I wrote to Capital One, but they say they are 'unable to locate' my information!
Any ideas how I can get hold of this info?

The template letters about reclaiming charges should have something in them, i think if you slightly re word it and send the requisite dosh to release info under the data act quoted in them, then they should comply with all info they have on you.
Do you know roughly how old the account is?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

as long as they have your full name and address at the time you had the account, send the Access Request letter - as long as it's within the last 6 years.

It is, I opened the account about 5 years ago and then closed it in 2006.
Anyone got a link to an "Access Request Letter"?Twitter: @haddockman830 -
I would write back with one of the templates, also include your full name, date of birth and any previous addresses - that should enable them to find your accountNo Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
