sainsbury's ones are lush
OP - scrap the nut roast and make this. It's divine and even the meat eaters fight over it!

Nope - not in a while! I stick to Tivall, and it all adds to keeping independent shops open [I hate Tescos with a vengeance].
The tesco and sainsbury vege mince is gross, again I stick to the original and best, Realeat.0 -
for a veggie christmas dinner, which will have to cook at work this year (again), i make a nut wellington with brie and cranbery (nut roast spread with cranberry sauce, few slices of brie, wrapped in pastry and baked), very substantial and usually the meat eaters want some aswell!!!£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:0

I second the Cauldron bangers, others are just not the same
If you keep your eyes open you may find them reduced when they reach the sell by date, they freeze wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I find the Linda McCartney sausages when cooked until just before they go crispy are very sausage-like.
There's a company I think called Beanie or something similar that do hot-dog sausages and several other sorts, they're in health food shops. Holland & Barrett have some, but other more independent health food shops I've found seem to have a better range.Sometimes I feel like a pelican. Whichever way I turn, I've still got an enormous bill in front of me.0 -
Cauldron sausage are on offer in Tesco's at the moment - £1 :money:
I've got 6 packets in my freezer up to now0 -
wow, so many ideas!
afterglow, the wellington sounds delicious! not sure i'd eat it with the christmas day trimmings but will definitely be making it another time!
brazilianwax - it looks absolutely delicious, i think somebody posted it on one of the special occasions threads, but unfortuantely i don't eat pasrnips, so annoying. i can imagine that the rest of my lot would love it though!!0 -
My OH and DD are veggies and I use sosmix (from Health Food Shop) to make up to whatever size I want. I also wrap them in non-bacon for them. I eat meat and I think they're ok.
For their main mean I do Mushroom & Brie parcels. They are wonderful and I always have to do loads for the meat eaters to. I'm at work and don't have the recipe with me so I'll try to let you have it tomorrow."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
Sosmix is also good for making sausage rolls.Sometimes I feel like a pelican. Whichever way I turn, I've still got an enormous bill in front of me.0

mmmmm, mushroom and brie, thanks 1sttimer, the recipe would be great. i'm loving the fact that giving up meat appears to mean that i get to eat more cheese
i haven't tried sosmix but i have seen it in H&B so i'll give it a go. hopefully it would be possible to make some up in advance and freeze them...0 -
I like sozmix and I also like Cauldron (Cauldron are classier in my opinion whilst sozmix tastes a bit more junk foody!) - Cauldron mushroom burgers are the best, and Im not even veggie!0
