Vegatarian Chipolatas for Christmas

Hi OSers

i've searched for this but haven't found anything, so hoping that one of you can help...

it's my first christmas as a non-meat eater (i'm 28) and, although i'm looking forward to nut roast with all the trimmings one thing i think i will miss is chipolatas. i know i can get yummy veggie sausages but was wondering if anyone had ever come across a miniature version?! or whether it would be at all possible to make some myself (i don't have a sausage maker or anything)?

and, while we're on the subject - what are everyone's favourite veggie sausages? my local pub does some amazing caerphilly and leek ones, but i've never managed to find a shop bought one that is as tasty...

i'm more than happy to do some tasting research in advance of the big day ;)

thanks very much

They used to do supermarkets until T and S thought their hot dogs were just as good and stopped selling them - so it's health food shops at the moment.

    cool, thanks very much!

i've got a holland and barrett near my office so will try that at lunchtime.

i've also now found their webpage http://www.tivall.co.uk/content.asp?id=28 (sorry, should have looked before i asked you!) and it looks as though some of the own brands are made by tivall, might be worth looking into...

yummy, some new sausages to try! thanks

My favourite veggie sausages are the cauldron ones which you can buy either in supermarkets or health food shops, I just cut them up into 3 bits to make them into chipolatas. I have made my own sausages with the nut roast mix as well, you can then make them any size you want.

ooh good idea, thanks. i've seen cauldron in my sainsbury's so will tyr some.

i'll be making a nut roast as well (big enough for everyone becuase i'm sure they'll all tuck in once it's there!) but fancied something properly 'sausage-y' on the side for that real christmas dinner experience :)

i'll let you know what i decide once i've tried some of these new ones!

I know they make the T and S vege hot dogs, but they really aren't as good. When covered in ketchup and mustard you don't notice it - but bare you do.

have you tried the tesco ones recently? they're gross - how can something veggie be so gristly? yuck

    sainsbury's ones are lush

OP - scrap the nut roast and make this. It's divine and even the meat eaters fight over it!
