You can get anywhere from the Central belt easily - Livingstone, Stirling, Glasgow, East Kilbride - even Edinburgh. I think they all have good shopping centres.:T
You have such variety down there - I came to Inverness from Hamilton 5 1/2 years ago - I have "down the street" or NOTHING ..!!
Enjoy :j0 -
whatever you do just dont go to motherwell, thats even more of a dump than hamilton,at least hamilton have tried a bit with thier shopping centre.
to be honest i just dont think you can beat glasgow city centre for shopping, its a bit spread out but you will get everything you need there. if you really want to go to a shopping centre then either livingston or glasgow fort....work permit granted!0 -
East Kilbride is good and its under cover so nice and dry. Plenty of food shops for when you stop for lunch. Also plenty of car parking or its on the 201 bus route from Hamilton.TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

City Centre or Parkhead Retail park if you like bargains for Next Clearance and Marks and Spencer outlet. Get the 255 into town and get off at the Forge and if you don't get what you want continue into town. Get an all day bus ticket at £3.20. Couldn't agree more about Hamilton the town centre is really poor now. It used to be a great shopping centre but unless you like charity shops, estate agents or sandwich shops you are pushed to find anything else.0

I really like EK shopping centre and it has lots of lovely shops most of the major stores and a few other different shops. You also have the fort, which is based in easterhouse - it is open but good for clothes shops, elc, tk max etc. It is usually open to 10pm most nights,MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46
Overpayments 2006-2009 = £11985; 2010 = £6170, 2011 = £5570, 2012 = £12900 -
If you are prepared to venture out by car Perth is nice, has a small shopping centre but lots of nice individual shops and along the route (or on the way back) you have Stirling (Marches and Thistle Centres), Bridge of Allan and Auchterarder, both of which have lots of unusual smaller shops.
Places I would be inclined to avoid - Cumbernauld - nothing there, Falkirk - filthy and rundown, Livingston - nothing special and The Gyle - needs a complete revamp.0 -
I would say East Kilbride is one of the best with just about all the shops you need Braehead is good but parking near christmas is a nightmare. I like the fort as well but if the weather is bad you are a bit cold to say the least. If you go to East Kilbride it's a short journey home when you are tired after all your xmas shopping.
good luck. :jAnn0 -
Hi there,
Glasgow city centre has been heaving over the past few days - we have the German Market on and there are a few big sales on...not sure if that helps or puts you off!!
