Cheaper Hair Laquer?

At the moment I use Pantene hair spray, not from particular choice more from habit. I do try to buy it on 2 4 1 or promotions, none on it at the mo though.
I'm in need of another can this week, so was wondering if anyone can suggest a cheaper option?
I tried a cheapie about 3yrs ago and it was rubbish, ended up throwing it out. It was sticky, smelly and left my hair feeling like a solid brick!
My usual one cost about £3, give or take.
I'd really like to money save on this and I know there must be a cheaper version somewhere.
