Spendless

Feeling far too hungover yesterday to do a special dinner, we had one today. As I prepared our veg (bought off our market). I found a dead slug as I peeled back the green leaves from the cauli. Mr Spendless totally refused to eat the cauli- and it's gone to next doors rabbits instead.
What would you have done?

I'd have made sure he didn't see it
Just like I did when I bought an organic cauli that was covered in about a million little bugs (some still living). I washed the blimmin thing about 50 times then cooked it and served it to him in a lovely cheese sauce :rotfl:Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
I couldn't have eaten it either - the thought of that makes me want to puke.
I know that if it was my husband doing the preparing he would have just picked it out washed it (if I was lucky) and cooked it. He wouldn't tell anyone.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Pick them out and coat in tempura batter - deep fry until golden and serve hot with choice of dip . . .
No really, I get home grown caulis from a guy at work, and they quite often have slugs in them. I soak mine in a large bowl of cold salted water, which kills the slug then it floats to the surface. Anyway, caulis with slugs in probably show they haven't had any pesticides on them which is surely a good thing??Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. My Nan used to do that with all her veg. She said anything yucky would float to the top!Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

I've never felt the same about fresh, market-bought broccoli since I found a living spider in one once...0
