I have been off work for a fortnight now.
The doctor signed me off last monday saying I might need one- two weeks off and wrote "one week" on the note and prescribed Diazepam amongst two others.
I was fully intending returning back tomorrow, and thought i would ride the storm as the drugs were making me act strange, including slurring of speach and great fatigue.
The problem I have got is that this has not subsided and I honestly do not feel ready to return yet, I have never had any sick apart from an operation last year. How do I stand now the note he gave me has expired, what should I do? As my employer will expect me back tomorrow I would assume?
I can ring the docs first thing but if I can not get an appointment to sort it out, I will then be classed as AWOL as I start at 8am.
Please advise as I value my job. I thought by now that I would have felt better hence not visiting the docs on Friday for another form.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like you are not well enough to go back to work tomorrow. Can you get to doctors for when they open to try and get an appointment for tomorrow. At least you may stand a chance before all appointments go by phone and you can't get through.0

Just make sure you ring work and tell them you won't be in and have to go back to doctors and will get a cert.
Go to doctor and explain cert run out and they can issue a med 5 if a large gap or will write above the date unfit from....
If the doctor said two weeks then sometimes the doctor will leave a certificate to be collected if they can't see you that day. Again ask receptionist.
 Main thing keep work informed.0

thanks guys, I plan to ring up first thing in the morning. Our company uses a ringing in service called AHP, who are very helpful, it is manned by nurses.
I think the doctor only wrote one week, to see how it went instead of writing two.0

Hope everything is ok today fluffykittens,
If you don't think that your medication agrees with you, have a chat with your doc about it. There are lots of different medications in that area to try, so it may be that you are able to try something else xGone ... or have I?0
