Bit stuck for next 4 weeks and bills to pay!

They are still debiting me £78 per month (well, at the end of each quarter x3 as it goes). I'm not living there anymore though, I suppose it is all estimated so don't know how I can get that down?

I'm going to live on pasta, unfortunately we eat completelly different things. I make things from scratch so a chili con carne lasts me 4 nights, pasta with vegetables or sauce and baked potatoes with tuna and sweetcorn, I could do it on about £10 a week. I could try to cut out my vices for a few weeks, which cost about 10-20 a week in the supermarket.

Now I've said that, that's £80 a month on wine, tonic water and chocolate!

it's only for a few weeks, will try to drive slower at 50. Just had to pay £210 for 3 new tyres last week. If I hadn't had that to pay for, I wouldn't be in such a crap position. Great timing as usual!
  • I'm glad you are picking up the pieces pink twirl. I did kind of have a breakdown sadly and was a mess, but still put up with it, even personnel knew what was happening :(

Use the 5 month contract as your 'getting better and re-grouping' time and you'll probably grow stronger as you move away from what happened - I took a very low level admin job because thats all I thought I was worth and 8 months on, I'm now ready to move on, which friends predicted would happen.

My employer before that was a big telecomms company and I know the way they work - people are a job, not a person, so I feel for you.

Pop your CV on all the online sites possible and register with agencies. Things take so long to grind into action, it's best to do what you can now.

**hugs** what alot of hassles you have been through - you back in Scotland now?

Yeah, been up a few weeks now. Spots have all gone, debts are down, just the worry of making new friends and finding a job longer than 6 months! Don't feel trapped in misery anymore. I was so unhappy I would rather have been made bankrupt than stayed there, but it doesn't seem so bad now I'm away from it. :o
  • where are you in Scotland? Thus are in Glasgow and I know are just in the process of being taken over by C&W , whilst there may be some redundancies (I have a friend who works for Thus) there could also be opportunities.

(unless C&W are your former employer obviously _pale_ )

It's well known for it's bullying inside the company. I've only not been bullied in one team out of 5 over the years. I contacted HR a year ago and they told me that if I didn't have to directly work with them on projects i.e. I only had to share an office with them, then HR wouldn't so anything about it. My last straw was meeting the horrible HR woman who smugly said and smiled at the same time that they couldn't move me. She was horrible!

I've registered with some agencies, but they're just rejecting my applications. I have had 5 interview so far, but being pipped to the post with people with more experience than me constantly. Employers are getting every box on the tick list at the moment due to the number of candidates.

I hope you get the job you deserve Burlesque. Bullying destroys confidence, but people only bully because they see something in you they are jealous of (so I try to keep reminding myself).

It's just the hassle of not getting paid for 6 weeks, I've never experienced this before.
I've seen this happen before, up to 7 weeks even, where people have missed an early cut off point in a big organisation.

You're being paid early (20th) I suspect "because it's Xmas" - so it's important to remember that your next payday after that might not be for another 11+31 days = 42 days - another 6 weeks!

So bear that in mind too.

    Hi,

Good thinking, apparently it's the 20th every month. Luckily I've got £700 of share money coming to me also. Got 6-monthly maintenance of £305 to pay and old corporate card remaining balance for this month. It's never ending these bills!

I'll be giving out lumps of coal this year for xmas. Next year will hopefully be better. :o

    Hi, I'm in Glasgow :D

I will bear that in mind. No, I didn't work for them before.

Trying to move between careers, but there are so many people with more experience with me, going for interviews for what I used to do and for what I want to do.

Can't be too picky at the moment! It's a classic when they ask in interview "so, why do you want to work for us?" "Well, because it pays otherwise I'd be in Barbados with Jake Gyllenhall (I wish)!!!" Jeez! :rotfl: :o
  • Two questions

Why are you still paying for a property you no longer live in?

Where are you travelling to that it is costing you almost £70 a week in petrol?
Noobie (not so :D) trying to make loads a dosh - please bear with all my questions  Thanks :D

    Hi,

I've signed my flat up to one of those guaranteed rent schemes. I've still got council tax, electricity and water/sewage to pay until someone else moves in.

58+26+78 = a good 162 a month. Do I still need to be paying these bills?

Secondly, going from Glasgow to beyond Edinburgh. The way the trains work out it would take me longer to get there. Car is more practical and it would cost the same.
