Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post but I wasn't sure where to post...
I've been working at my company for just over 2 years PAYE and am now taking a few months out of work to concentrate on my study. I will start a new job after this break and will be PAYE again.
Do I need to make any NI contributions during this period?
I'm 23 worked paye from 2002-2006 (then took a 2 week break between jobs so paid no NI for those 2 weeks). Then started my new job which I'm now leaving...
Thanks for any advice!!

Depends how much you have earned during the tax yr, if you have already earned more than the NI threshold (appox #5500)then paying voluntary contributions (class 3) will not help as you will already have secured a qualifying year for state pension purposes.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I've earned above £5.5K so I will be fine if that's how it works.
Do I need to nitify anybody that I will be unemployed so have no intention of paying no NI?

I left the country end of last year and rang the tax office to tell them as I wasnt sure what to do about tax contributions etc, they told me aslong as you pay your contributions for the correect amount fo time (think its 39 years) its fine. You can have a break, ring them and they'll you exactly for your circumstances.Fantastic Expectations Amazing Revelations0
