I Wanna... Stock My Kitchen with Equipment

G'Meister
I moved in about 3 months ago and I still need to buy the following items for my kitchen:
Baking tray
Pots and Pans
Tuperware
Pyrex bowls
Measuring jug (/s?)
Measuring spoons
Rolling pin
Wire Whisk/s
Eggbeater
Soup ladle
Spatulas, normal, angled, rubber scraper
Nested various size sieves
Steel colander
Roasting pan
Cooling racks
Cheese grater
vegetable peeler (e.g. swivel-bladed)
Kitchen Timer
Drying Rack
Dishclothes
Instant read thermometer
I am not a poor man, and I can afford to invest in high quality products that for their longevity will work out cheaper than lower quality alternatives (and they might also save money indirectly by saving time).
I'm also a tight git and rarely buy anything unless it is at substantial discount/representing exceptional value for money, even if that means waiting for a deal to come along when I could forgo that notion and just buy what I need.
But admittedly, that's going to have to take the backburner for now - I simply can't cook without some of these items, and if I'm spending extra money on takeaways, that's going to cost me much more to my wallet and my health, so the more essential items I'll take a hit on if necessary I suppose (I had considered buying cheap tat and then replacing it when a deal came along, but I've decided that will probably cancel out the saving on most things!).
Please, recommend me purchases. I'll update the thread and strike off items as I kit out my kitchen. This list could become a fantastic resource for people moving into their first home.
P.S: I live alone and will likely be cooking for no more than 4 people (at a stretch); just to give you an idea of what size I might need for particular items where that's relevant. Also, I already have some stuff, that's why the list doesn't include real basics like cutlery, dishware etc.

Could try Wilkinsons...?2012 Target...
10 half marathons in a year. First one, New Years day!0 -
my advice would be to buy all your utensils at Wilkinsons - they will be cheap enough that you can replace them in a year with better quality if you felt you needed to.... but spend the money on good pans and tray.... TK maX is good if you've one near you.... or try somewhere like Debenhams or House of Frazer when they have the 20% off days..... alternatively if you've been really good this year will someone be sending SANTA to your house;) ... maybe they could be on your christmas list... or gift vouchers towards them?Declutter challenge 2023.

Hi :-)
A man after my own heart.
1. First I find out what I want.
You might like to do that with this site: http://www.come-shopping.co.uk/directory_pages/home/2_utensils.htm
2. Then I try a Google UK Shopping product search (this is actually the Shopping Tab on the main Google.Co.UK site) for the item, which shows every supplier for the item in the UK, known to man. This is where I generally choose my 'target UK shopping site' and it's here: http://www.google.co.uk/prdhp?ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wf
3. The next thing is to buy the item in the cheapest possible way from the chosen 'target UK shopping site'. You could say, try getting an Introductory CashBack to the chosen target site by going into it from say Quidco: http://www.quidco.com/
Watch those 'Cookies'. You need to go in 'clean' or the introduction might not validate. I use CCleaner for my cookie control. It does make 'Cookie control' things very easy.
4. Look out for Discount Codes and Vouchers and try to get Free Delivery. Try: http://www.ourdiscountcodes.co.uk/?gclid=CMHmxNPY9Y8CFQFBMAodE2QVFA
5. And when it comes to paying for it, use a Cashback credit card.
There's American Express (5%), Capital One (1%) and Egg Money(%)
So there you go.
Can you give me any tips?0 -
Got some very good and stylish pans at The Range if you have one near you, reasonably priced, dishwasher safe and with built in holes to drain your veg.0

Yeah actuallyI'd recommend TopCashback.co.uk over and above Quidco - they dont charge £5 a year, and on top of that, offer regular cashback users over 100% cashback (I've no idea how they afford this!). On the subject of cashback sites, WePromiseTo.co.uk are also noteworthy for their "offline cashback" (and they also have a "cashback alerter" toolbar, if you've ever forgotten to go through a cashback site).
The other tip I'd have for you is hotukdeals.com - the voucher search on there is outstanding.
Actually, another, I'd recommend checking Pricerunner and Kelkoo along with Froogle (very clever name that, similiar to google but pronounced Frugal) as google relies on interpreting websites mostly, whereas pricerunner and kelkoo ask merchants to submit copies of their product databases for addition to their site.
As for my kitchen, I've made a little progress (well, I haven't bought anything yet!) but I spent some time well spent on the Ikea website selecting cheap essential bits and bobs and well here's a copy of my shopping list so far with them:

Not bad for £20.93 (instore).
