Getting rid of awkward blackheads?

Anyone know of any tricks to get rid of blackheads in really awkward areas?

I have some on my nose, right at the side beside the nostril near the fold of skin (iykwim), so squeezing them is painful and awkward, as I can't get into any of them, and the ones I do get rid of are sheer luck, so does anyone know of any tricks or creams or anything to try and get rid of them that actually work?

  • hi,

I use tea tree blackhead face peel from the bodyshop. It starts as a gel so you could get it in any crevice you needed too and it turns into peel.

'Folded' end of a hair pin or round bit of a safety pin. Probably not recommended ...

Aspirin mask should help, though it might well take a few goes until they're minimised.

Have you tried " nose strips " .... I have used these before and they work really well ...:D

Just had a quick look and i haven't got the box anymore ...so can't check the make .... basically they are small " strips " , you wet each side of the nostril then stick one of the strips on ... think it's for 10 mins or so .... then pull it off and voila .....you are blackhead free ...

I won't be going out tomoorrow , but will have a look in the chemist on tuesday and will come back and let you know the make of the ones that i've used ......

Meanwhile ....these aren't the same make as mine ... but superdrug do these ones ..... ( haven't tried these ) ...

  • The problem is that the blackhead strips don't reach the parts where I'm having problems, they're right in at the folds!

Will look in the Body Shop for the gel stuff, think that's prob the best option.

Before you attempt to extract, clean the area and then use a hot flannel or steam to open the pores - should make extraction easier.

  • Have you tried the oil cleansing method? I use it and it really makes pores give up the gunk very easily. Will pop back with link :D

  • Hi - the thing I've found works best is definately the Biore Face and nose strips. Tesco / Boots approx 7.99 for 6 strips. They're pricey. But they work.
Use twice a week max. If you use them correctly you can actually see the dirt it lifts out your pores. Amazing!

I hadn't used them in a wee while, then used them on my nose and chin and it really helped lift the dirt. With more stubborn ones you have to persevere but it does stop the chance of getting a large spot as a result of poking and prodding your skin.

Sometimes it feels like your removing the surface of your delicate facial skin when you remove the strip, but when you see the dirt that comes out it feels worth it!

Close your pores with cold water afterwards and then use a intensive moisturiser to prevent skin from drying out.

    Hope this helps ;)
