Just wondering if anyone else cuts open their tube of toothpaste when they can't get any more out of it? I've been doing this for a few years now & find there is usually enough left inside to see me through for up to a week more.
I first did this when I ran out of toothpaste & realised I hadn't bought a new tube & being the tight old moneysaving scrooge I am, I have continued with the practice ever since. A close friend thinks I'm a bit eccentric I think when I try to share money saving tips like this with her. :rudolf:

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I do this with anything in a tube or plastic bottle, its amazing how much is lurking in there when you think it is empty. I have been known to use a cotton bud round the side to get every little bit, my family think I am nuts.0

I do not know whether this is of use - cut hand cream tubes across the middle and the top half can be used as a lid.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

I cut open hand cream tubes as there is always loads left in the neck of the tube.I also balance almost- empty shampoo bottles on top of new open one to let the last bit drain into new bottle.I don't think this is mad-I've paid for a full bottle why throw some of it away?0

I have a small tube of a special lip balm I bought ages ago, in a plastic squeezy type tube. When I couldn't squueze any more out I decided to but the end off - and I'm still applying it twice a day most days and it's been like that for at least 3 months!! With it being a waxy product it doesn't set (whereas toothpaste will do after a few days)0

Eccentric! You sound perfectly sane to me. Doesn't everybody do this?I think you need to change your firends Cattie you are quite clearly mixing with a load of lunatics!
Toothpaste, hand cream and any other tubes are slashed and scraped out. Anything in a bottle spends more of it's life upside down to make sure every atom is dripped out than it does the right way up. Anything rich and luxurious is instantly watered down to the consistancy of ... something very runny;)
TM to stop things drying out us those little capsules that the latex gloves come in your hair colour boxes (not that I'm suggesting the your 'burnished beechnut highlighted with autumn copper' is anything but eau natualle. Scrape out and pop in capsule to keep airtight. By the way your Avon rep will give you little spalulas for free is you ask her nicely.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
