How to clean my cream wool rug

I have got a large cream wool rug which has now gone beyond the stage of spot cleaning (in fact it was some time ago but the electric lights seem to make it look even worse) and i really need to clean the whole thing if I'm going to carry on using it.
The rug label say I can't get it wet, so my usual carpet cleaning technique of scrubbing and rinsing it isn't an option, and even if I do take a risk and wet clean it how one earth will i get it dry in this weather?
Is there anything that will clean by damping the surface but not really getting it wet?
I have seen no-wet-wonder-foam on sale in the past - has anyone used this succesfully? (and any ideas where i can get it from).
Lakeland do a spray on carpet cleaner/spot cleaner which says it leaves no sticky residue (and you can usually trust them) but in the past i have found these sorts of cleaners seem to attract the dirt even more after you have used them.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks, Paula

I used one of those hand held steam cleaners (Netto were doing one for £10) on those stubborn marks on my thick pile cream wool rug and it worked a treat - been there for over a year, used all sorts of 'stain removers' to no avail, now gone completely...0
