PPI on repaid loan

Hi all
I took out £18000 loan with Nationwide in 2006. It was for 7 years but I repaid it in 4 months - such were circumstances and I was heavily charged for repaying early. I don't have any paperwork left regarding this loan, I don't even know whether the PPI was part of the loan or not. But in case it was, what is the best way to approach Nationwide regarding the PPI claim? Or is it just to late or hopeless? I can see that Nationwide now distances themselves from the PPI, on their website it says in bold that it is optional, but I'm not sure it was so 2 years ago. Nice weekend all : )

Hi there
No its not too late hun and if you've no paperwork on this loan, you can request for a copy of the agreement which they may provide for free, or charge a £1 for this, this should arrive within 12 days of requesting this, but write to them for your proof and post by recorded delivery, this way you can check on the date deadling of 12 days.
Also request for a copy of the settlement calculations breakdown, they should provide this free of charge.
As soon as you receive these post up and we can guide you, you can also post about this on the PPI reclaim - discussion thread, if you click on loans first, you will see the mentioned thread on the top of the page, where myself and others can help you through this.
Like I said its not too late, I am in fact dealing with a bank ppi claim made in 2001 right now.
Whether it states optional or not does not make any difference - there are loads of reasons of why this may have been mis sold, or if you was not happy with the settlement etc we can reclaim this way as well, there are ways around this.
If you require further info just give us a yell, good luck and we look forward to hearing from you.;)
