Follow the advice in the sticky for accounts that are not marked as settled or have the default date recorded as being after the bankruptcy date.

Check your Equifax file as well. Only costs £2. ;)

Double check to make sure that you give the Credit Reference agencies all the full addresses that cover you for the last 6 years and that any missing accounts may be recorded at. Sometimes accounts can appear to be missed off if there is a slight error/difference with a previous address.

"Even though you are discherged from bankruptc you have a continuing duty pursuant to section 333(1) of the Insolvency act 1986 to co-operate with the trustee in bankruptcy so that the trustee may carry out his functions. You also have a continuing duty pursuant to section 291 of the Insolvency act 1986 to co-operate with the Offical Reeiver regarding the administration of your bankruptcy estate. You should also note that the assets in your bankruptcy estate remain vested in your trustee in bankruptcy and they will NOT be returned to you."

If you fail to co-operate with the trustee without a reasonable excuse you are liable to be held in contempt and punished accordingly, and you may be sent to prison
  • looking at my CF, im sure some i owed at BR have been marked satisfied

"defaults" are just BT and t-mobile, nationwide and first direct, none of which were large amounts!
  • Hi,
    I'd like some help please:
I'm not sure where the 'sticky' is for this subject. Can you help? It may throw some light on a subject for me.
I was made banckrupt in Aug '06, discharged in Aug '07 and will be making my last payment to the Receiver in Sept this year. Thus far, all is well. However, when I got my credit files last year, they showed a series of defaults for every account on every page, for every month since well before the bankruptcy. On a few it says, 'satisfied', but then continues to state 'default' ad infinitum. On most (mainly RBS, Halifax, etc) it doesn't seem to suggest that there is any satisfaction, and I am in plain default.
When I asked Experian about it, they said that they couldn't give much information over the 'phone, and the only way to get them removed was to write to each individual company and request that they contact Experian, et al.A friend suggested that but that it'll probably stay like that for another six years, to prevent me from getting credit, and that the banks are just playing hard.
Is this right? Can it be made to look as if I am in default of payments, despite being discharged bankrupt? Also, I thought that six years, was six years from the date of bankruptcy, or is it from discharge? It seems that the Cr/Ref bods are suggesting that it's six years from an ungiven date.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,

  • It is,thanks. :T
I've been a busy bunny here, but will trawl through this over the weekend. I have a few months before the final payment to the receivers, which should give me a bit of time to argue with the Cr/Ref muppets.
    Best wishes and happy squeaks,
