I've come to the conclusion that I must make the move and use one of these agencies. Any suggestions as to which is the best one to use??

Nothing to choose between them - they both do the same job. Whether one is more efficient than the other really depends on how many "live" cases they currently have on the go.
Why not speak to both and go for the one that gives you most confidence/comfort?
You can also add National Debtline and CAB to the list as they do the same thing too.

From personal experience and that most creditors know of, and willing to work with, I would reccomend CCCS.0

Hi brighthope,
I haven't dealt with either to be honest but I get the impression the CCCS are generally more busy, longer waiting times! However that doesn't mean Payplan aren't as good.0 -
this is condensed version of post on page 4- hitme thread start. im dealing with cccs but as salesman and a lead provider i find it interesting that cccs always recommend BAKER TILLY as IPR who dont work for free unlike payplan. if they were truly independent like this excellent site would they not have a 'revolving panel' situation if you follow? i feel i have been shunted to 'bt' quickly and not been offerd other alternatives; certainly not PAYPLAN! charities of course often have rivalries.
what i need to know is financially what difference the practicioners fee makes to the settlement figure. surely paying a monthly fee ups our monthly payment and/or prolongs our clearance time?

I've been using Payplan for over a year. They're pretty good although getting hold of them is a bit of a pain - always have to leave voicemail and someone calls back, usually within 24hrs - but it's not ideal. I use them as my main negotiator for my debts and they've managed to freeze everything bar one. I have also just started using National Debtline in additon for advice.
Good luck.Saving Nectar points for long-haul flights - total as of Jan '07= 54,000+ :T0
