Dental Cover - Please help, I've no idea!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some dental insurance questions please?
1. Is a pre-existing condition something that has already been 'diagnosed' or is it something that has happened before you take insurance? For example, I am very scared of the dentist and have not been for 4 or 5 years, at which point my teeth were perfect. Now I have major problems. Is it counted as pre-exisiting?
2. When you have a check up / work done, do you have to pay and claim it back or is the bill sent to your insurer? Or does this depend on who you are with? I know couldnt afford to find what I will have to pay for my teeth to be fixed.
3. Can anyone reccomend any cheap insurers? And if there are some that have the dentist send the bill to them rather than you paying first, could anyone tell me who they are?
4. Does insurance cover NHS, private or both?
Any advice is appriciated,I've never had insurance of any kind before, but as I could not even afford NHS treatment ( if I could even findan NHS dentist! ) it seems insurance is my only option, thanks in advance!

I would imagine your teeth would have to be checked by a dentist prior to your being acceped for any sort of dental insurance plan.
You certainly are not likely to get a couple of thousand pounds worth of treatment for a few £10 monthly payments.0 -
As far as i am aware, you need to have a check up first, any work needed at this point will not be covered, only future work will be covered.
costs can vary depending on the cover you require, might be worth checking if your work has a dental plan. the other option is to start putting money aside every month, to cover bills. i have to go private as never managed to get on al ist, payed £875 2 months ago for a filling and root canel treatment.0
