Sadly my business has failed after four years and i am seeking a new job. Any suggestions on how i can explain on an application form in a positive manner my wish to return to my previous employment as a support worker in the care industry.

I'm so sorry to hear that! What was your business in?
Depending on what you were doing whilst you were away from it, you could talk about how you thrived on the challenges and opportunites afforded to you whilst self employed, but that you miss being part of a team driven and caring environment? Really depends what you were doing though....

I was selling socks and underwear. Thanks for the replies. Any more will be welcome.
yeah i thought i could put that selling socks was'nt as fulfilling or rewarding. If i've learned anything over the last few years I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and unhappy. And i've been in both places. From September 2008 - Wepromiseto £133.19, Greasypalm £46.16, Quidco £519.78, Cashback Kings £74.54. Vouchers £31.00. myhpf £21.03

I wouldn't word it like that, (sorry I worked in recruitment for 3 years, so I'm a bit anal when it comes to these things), it doesn't matter what reason you give, as long as you put a positive spin on it.
For example, saying that you found your last job very rewarding and that's something you miss, is very different to saying your current job isn't rewarding - if you see what I mean? Like you can say you really miss being part of a team, which again is a more positive than saying you don't like working on your own?
You need to make it sound as though you really want to go back to working as a support worker, rather than it being that you don't want to work in your most recent job any more.
If there's anything at all I can help with - just shout!

            thanks crap with money
I ended my business in February of this year and have taken some time off. Any thoughts on a good way of saying my business did not work? They are bound to ask perhaps in an interview? And perhaps why i have taken some months off before seeking other employment? From September 2008 - Wepromiseto £133.19, Greasypalm £46.16, Quidco £519.78, Cashback Kings £74.54. Hey luverlyjuberly,
how have you been getting on with the job search? Sorry - it went completely out of my head to reply to this last message! Hopefully you'll be well on your way to sorting something out!
The only explanation I would give, is to maybe say that you were financially secure enough not to have to return to work immediately, and that you wanted to take some time to make sure you were definitely making the right choice?
 Have you had any interviews?

I did some work helping a friend advertise her business. i think I goofed as i was supposed to be working for her for two months but it is now only two weeks!! I did the job too well LOL. I talked her into placing an advert in the local paper and i was going to do a huge leaflet drop and handing out flyers. I am putting up posters this week and then thats it. She spent all her budget on the ads. BUT the customers are flying in so I am happy. Off to find another job! At leat it will look good on my cv.
