Woolworths FINALLY selling up

Pingu, you havent made a point, other than swearing obscenely at me you have not countered my argument.
Yes there are going to be people losing their job but that is the way of the world i am afraid, we all must deal with it, including me as i to fear my job will be lost working part time at lloyds banking group.
This is not the staff's fault, it is managements fault however that means the company should be taken over so management can be changed and this problem will not happen again.
For those thinking that management is good and the store is wonderful, well then clearly you are wrong, otherwise they wouldnt be in this mess.
Anyone who is moneysaving, knows this store is expensive and that you can find much cheaper goods if you shop around.
Unfortunatly with takeovers, jobs will be cut, deal with it.0 -
Woolworths and WH Smiths seem to be in a similar situation.
Both have failed to react to changing times and both have found themselves just another player in a full area of the market with reducing returns.
They may both ultimately fail. But of the two Smiths have managed better .Woolworths is shambolic and the work force has been let down.
I can't think who would want to take all those high street stores on.
Who has something to sell that needs to be on the high street that isn't there already.
The only one I can think of is maybe Primark taking a massive risk and hitting every town and city they have not yet reached ...0 -
more or less every knows whos at fault!
but you were blaming store staff in most of you posts in other threads as well!
by the way i don't work in store
took them too long to get rid of useless chief exec. trevor bish jones
i know what you don't :rotfl:Honesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
In other threads, where have i commented on Woolworths outside this thread?
If i did i probably didnt realize but i really dont think i have .
Also i have never really blamed store staff, i dont think they are brilliant but if they had cheap prices i wouldnt mind. However they do not, they are clearly overpriced.0 -

Sorry for the confusion.
I was referring to the person using the foul language blanked out not you. That is why there post has been removed.
I was fully behind your own posts.0 -
We have a pretty small Woolworth's, in a pretty dead town (Clevedon) so I would imagine that it will be one of the first casualties of a close down
We have bigger stores not far away in both Weston-Super-Mare and in Bristol, so it would make little sense in them keeping our tiny one open...which is a shame because our town centre is struggling enough as it is.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
To be fair, they would keep the smaller branches and scrap the bigger ones, those are the ones making the biggest loss in my opinion.0
