Castles/ Stately Homes- West Midlands

Hi,
Does anyone know of any unique Castles or Stately homes around the West Midlands area, that might accomodate 400 guests not in a marquee. I wouldn't mind a marquee, but would much rather make use of the elegant interior of a castle if possible. Or I could just cut my guest list down! But I don't think I will be liked very much if I do that!

There are several on here http://www.tyingtheknot-midlands.co.uk/venues1.htm but none that I could see that would even vaguely accomodate 400 people.
I don't know what your budget is but I seem to remember from don't tell the bride that a stately home wedding in Essex was going to start from 15k:eek:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Cutting your guest list down may be more practical - at the moment you have a 'fantasy' list which is a list of all the people that you would ideally like to invite but if you think about it 400 guests is a lot of people to accommodate and to be honest with you Stately Homes can have small rooms as do castles (well the folks that used to inhabit them were small people). It is easy to trim down the guest list - don't invite business acquaintances unless you socialise with them, don't invite partners of single guests, don't invite ex boyfriends or girlfriends, no need to invite distant relatives that you never see either or children. It is not a question of whether or not you will be liked but what is practical and cost effective. You would need an unlimited budget to cater for that number of people and it would make photography difficult too as well as transporting them from the church to the reception venue (if that is where you are getting married).
Ragley Hall at Alcester is a nice place, try looking at National Trust properties too as they will sometimes host wedding receptions or even a civil ceremony.
If you are out and about - see if you can pick up a copy of the The Midlands White Wedding Pages (these are given free in Debenhams or wedding fairs) - this is like a directory of all things bridal including venues. I think that you can get a copy of this by looking at their website: https://www.justthewedding.com - this is also a blog site for bridal couples.
