A lampshade!
I'm gearing up to get my own place in September and, in true moneysaving style, I'm taking advantage of the time until then to acquire the things I'll need at minimal cost to myself. I'm seriously thinking about making some 'free' lampshades!
oh my god, that lampshade is fantastic, i'm off to get some old cartons out the recycling bin, its just the sort of wacky thing i want for my front room. will let you know how i get on with (how weasy it is etc) and if it looks as good as that when i am done.0 -
Look forward to hearing it, you may be starting a whole new trend - :j -
The one in the pics looks fabulous!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

try getting a milkman/millklady instead. dairy crest now do organic milk in clear glass bottles. saves energy in plastic production and recycling, costs slightly more, but also saves journeys to local shops = temptation! What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I use mine to put my fag ends in when I'm having a smoke outside - I put water in it first of course

In a perfect world yes, but thats always supposing there is a reliable delivery service locally.
I am on benefits watching every penny I spend. I buy milk once a week when I do my weekly shop; I very very rarely go shopping more than once a week so not much temptation for me, nor I suspect to most people on this site who are trying to cut down spending.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Multi-coloured milk chandelier
It's not a great pic, but I saw these at the Edinburgh Art Festival last year and thought they were pretty great. Haven't managed to make mine yet, but they seem pretty easy!
Here's a closeup0 -
if your a pregnant/parent on benifits i think you can get milk/fresh fruit tokens - some milkmen take these!

rightio, lamp is not as easy as it looks, but once you get hang of fastening them, its quite simple really. first one completed yesterday to be promptly nicked by dd for her room. so waiting for some more cartons to do another, but got to say looks ace.0

Thanks for that link, lots of great ideas some of which I use already. But I hadn't thought of using them as iceblocks in a coolbox, will remember that when I do meat or frozen food shopping in the hot weather.rightio, lamp is not as easy as it looks, but once you get hang of fastening them, its quite simple really. first one completed yesterday to be promptly nicked by dd for her room. so waiting for some more cartons to do another, but got to say looks ace.
I love the lampshade idea, any chance of a photo? - yours must have turned out well for your dd to swipe it!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
