Hi
Am new here and this is my first post. I work full time and myself and my wife have 2 small children (14 months and 3 months) and she is trying to find weekend/evening work but is having no joy at all. Anyone got any suggestions on good places to find work and also, do you know roughly what she would be entitled to as a jobseeker if she is just looking for weekend/evening work? Jobcentre says it's just based on NI contributions and can't give any kind of figure. Anyone else in the same situation?
Thanks
Kev

Hi Kev,
When did your wife last work? She would only be entitled to JSA if she has paid sufficient NI Contributions in the past two years.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks, she was working full time up until August 07 then maternity pay until June 080

Was she paying any NI during the maternity pay period?
If so, she may be eligible for JSA, which is currently £60.50 per week.
With regard to her working times, how many hours would she be looking to work?Gone ... or have I?0 -
not sure if they take NI contributions out of your statutory maternity money to be honest. She is looking to work maybe 16-20 hours per week, I work Monday to Friday so would have to be weekends and maybe one evening per week0

can claim cont only which is £60.50 but have you tried wtc and child tax credits0
