You can reclaim back 6 years in England. In Scotland, you can reclaim 5 years, although there is some debate as to whether that should be 20 years. I think it has something to do with the legislation stating "any lawful debt" or something and the argument is that the charges are unlawful. Never looked into that in detail, but you can visit the consumeractiongroup forum for a more indepth look at it. Lots of legal stuff is discussed over there.

For offering settlements, you may want to have a look at the nationaldebtline template letters for an idea of what to send. It is often advised to make it clear that the money is only available for a limited time and is being funded by another party - so they don't think you have those funds available and should be making a partial payment and repaying the rest in installments.

Probably worth searching the forum to see what others may have done or put.

Right - got to do some work now.
Keep up the good work and attitude.

  • So it's DAY FOUR, of the quest to sort our all my financial woes......the weekend was VERY Interesting.

Sorted ALL my paperwork, know exactly what I owe, who I owe it too, when they last contacted me and it's all in an order I can work to.

I also made up an Excel spreadsheet of my budget and debt!! It works out what I owe, how much I earn(it's an SOA essentially), but also it calculates my remaining debts.......I was chuffed to do it, and it's inspiring me to see the TOTAL amount decrease rapidly(I hope!)....

All in all it was a good weekend, and the best thing about the snow in Aberdeen, I didn't leave the house, so I wasn't tempted to bet, didn't use any fuel and did not spend even 1p!!!!! Feels like im rich when I look in my wallet today haha!!!

Long may this continue!!! Im Paid on Friday, and it's my christmas one, so It will be interesting...lot of budgeting to do!!!

  • Morning! :hello:

How did your weekend go? Snowy by the sounds of it!! Good news on the NSD's though

I can't believe that I already hate spending money! Due to being paid weekly this week is not a good one for me (payments going out almost all the spare cash I have on my OD) so I am going to have plenty of NSD's this week! :D

My debt won't really start going down until next week - I'm quite looking forward to seeing what extra I can afford to throw at it!!!
