Sky Half Price annual thingy

Every year Sky give half price subscription for 3 months to those that ring up in Jan and Feb and want to disconnect.

When is the best time to ring. I remember that it was better to ring on the weekend a few weeks into January.

Can anyone clarify?

Thanx.

AMO

Sky do this throughout the year, not just at New Year so ring anytime. I've done this several times over the last year and always been able to get half price for anoter 3 months.

    Good luck!

I called last year and told them i couldn't justify the subs. After taking my details i was transferred to cancellations - within two minutes i was disconnected so bear this in mind if you are threatening to cancel just to get a sub reduction (i genuinely wished to cancel so it wasn't an issue for me).
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • I did it just before Xmas so we have had movies and sports over Xmas. Need to remember to cancel it soon though to avoid being charged full price

I called Sky the other day and was put through to retentions.

Not sure if this is true, but the guy said that they've realised that people are calling again and again. They've now changed the discounts. The first time you call they give 3 months on any package half price. When you call the second time they give you 40% discount for 2 months and the third time is 25% off for 2 months. After the any subsequent calls in any 12 months and they won't offer more discounts.

As I said, I don't know if this is true - has anyone else heard this?

This is exactly what happened to me !

I have been a sky customer for 14 years. After seeing this thread last May, I thought I'd see what I would get offered.
I got the 3 months half price, then a further 40% for 2 months when I rang again.
I left it at that, happy with my savings until 2 weeks ago, when I had an accident and will be unable to work for the next 6 - 8 weeks !
Knowing i'd be a bit skint I called them up to cancel, and was offered the 25% off for 2 months.
I declined the offer (£18) and will be cut off on the 12th Jan.

I'll only really miss the sport anyway.

Sky called me just before Christmas and offered half price for 12 months! I am currently a lowly freesat viewer though...
