Right - after much searching, have finally made up my mind and gone for a Polaroid i835 camera
Picture Resolution - 8 million pixels
Optical Zoom - 3 times magnification
LCD Screen Size - 3 inches
Memory Type - SD
3" screen
Seemed quite for the money and only cost £11 for accidental damage policy. Plus you get a £10 gift card. See www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1552656045.1227211453@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckadefkemeifjcflgceggdhhmdfhj.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=884748&category_oid==

Not bad for the money. Screen size is nice, too. But two things to be aware of. First thing, last time I checked, the extra warranty doesn't cover accidental damage. You only get accidental damage cover on the montly warranty. Secondly, this is Polaroid in name only. The actual Polaroid corporation went bankrupt years ago, and the brand name is now licenced to a bunch of companies. So the Polaroid brand itself means very little.
EDIT: Yep, just checked on the site. Currys 'Whatever Happens' policy does not cover mishaps on products under £129.
In fact, the link to the online leaflet is here0 -
Hopefully my 7 year old won't mind the Polaroid brand! I think I will be revisiting Currys tomorrow so that they can explain to me exactly what this policy does/doesn't cover - not least as I specifically asked for accidental cover!!!0

I'm assured that this policy "covers everything other than theft". Apparently it's a new policy - previous version didn't cover accidental damage. Paperwork is in the post.0

do you have to buy the cover to get the £10 gift card??0
-
No you get a free £10 gift card (useable after 4 Dec I think) with ALL camera purchases0
