Dolls for a dollshouse

I'm making a dollshouse for my 2 year old, I'm doing it 1/12 scale of a traditional dollshouse so we can add to and improve it as the years go by, but all the dools that are sold for that size seem to be for collectors, not for playing. Any suggestions as to what dolls would fit, but not be too expensive? Someone recently gave her a doll and she loves it, she sings to it, feeds it and changes its nappy, so I can see her enjoying a dollshouse as she gets older.
I think maybe I'm getting a bit carried away with wanting a perfect dollshouse, but I'm going to have to buy some dolls, she's only got the one which is too big, and lots of teddies.
Sorry if I'm rambling, but any suggestions welcome.
Mary

If you use old fashined wood clothes pins/pegs they are the right size for for making 1:12 size dolls house dolls - there are probably library books that would show you how to make these. Most dolls houses for children are 1:16 so the dolls sold for these would of course be too small. If she is a careful child she will be old enough for the porcelain-headed type ones in a couple of years anyway -they are suprisingly sturdy. Hope this helps

Have a look for DollsHouse Emporium website. they have all sorts of dolls. Try and have a look at this book for all types of furniture, ideas, dolls etc by Jean Greenhowe Making a Victorian Doll's House (1978) ISBN-10: 0713408707 ISBN-13: 9780713408706 Publication Year: 1978
  • what about looking at the early learning centre ones , they are wooden and have lasted my daughter for ages . You can buy them as a familyset and can get wooden pets too also look at ebay for them
    Rent Arrears [STRIKE]£210[/STRIKE] £110
    Mum £360
    Loans £11,000
  • Try ebay for deagostini dolls. They are ones which came with a magazine (like those ones they always advertise on TV, where they're 99p for the first issue with a free toy but £6-8 after). My grandparents got my sister a subscription when she was little and those dolls were always a little smaller so they might fit, and also were very sturdy! They were mostly children-dolls which makes them a bit smaller still. They look just the same as real dolls house dolls too (but not quite as neat!! Perfect for my sister when she was 4ish), I think they are on ebay for £2-3 which is quite cheap. HTH! T-A xx

Edit: They also have Disney dolls by them, if she's into anything in particular!x
