Where do you get the best baguettes?

I have tried baguettes from different places but the tastiest baguette I have found is at Tesco. The baguettes at Sainsburys seem under cooked and doughy. Does anyone else have a favourite place to get their baguettes and why do they taste so different?

Are the co-op ones called something like Parisienne? I like theirs too.

I actually prefer the doughy baguettes though and buy the higher priced ones. I find the others just crumble into air and you seem to be chewing forever.
I shop in Morrisons and buy theirs.

The Co-op brand is Cuisine de France.

BTW When did they stop being called French Sticks???
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Oh no, girls! I've tried those baguettes in Co-op and found them tasteless and plain. I don't know why they stopped calling them french sticks.

The Cuisine de France ones (also sold in Budgens) are pre made and just shoved in the oven at the store. They are nice when fresh but eat them the next day and they go hard! (although you can refresh them by sticking them in the oven for a few minutes).

I like M&S bakery ones - although not even M&S has a bakery - they are scrummy! :j
  • I like the part-baked ones from Aldi. When they are baked again at home they are delicious warm from the oven.

  • I find somerfield quite good for french sticks, i'd say tesco come second. Im not keen on the ones from sainsburys and i've found bakers oven aren't much good either.
  • I love the budgens (cuisine de france) ones. The freeze really well too I think.

I also like the Tiger Tails (think thats the name) from Asda.

And I love the part bake ones too.
