Hi all
Just after a bit of help.
The company I work for the MD is retiring due to ill health and the business will close.
We were given our 30 day consultaion period and no buyer was found so we were issued with redundancy notices on 7th November.
Yesterday somebody put an offer in for the business and will decide by monday if the deal will go ahead.
The new company want to interview us for jobs within the business but nobody has a job guarenteed.
I have been with the previous compnay for 4 years and was gonna have a months money as redundancy and any hols i have left.
Now my query is that if the new comapny offer me a job within their company and i turn it down do I lose my redundancy or not.
I have heard that the new company aren't the most nicest of people and can be a pain to work for.
Don't know whether to get out altogether and start afresh.
Help!!!!

I would definitely do some research on this, looking up stuff where a company has been bought out. There have been cases where if you dont apply for your job, you are making yourself redundant, and then you dont get the redundancy, dont know enough about it, but either someone will be along. AJ0

Right, the new company came in today and did an informal interview with everyone.
The company taking over are not buying the business, just happens that they are in the same line of work, they are only going to be leasing the premises and running a smaller version of the company from there.
We were told that if we wanted to apply for 1 of the vacancies that would be there we could but not a guarantee of a job.
My current boss says that if they do trade from there and we get employed by them, we would lose our redundancy but the company coming isn't gonna be the same business ,they run under a different name.
I have tried looking on the net for some help but to no avail.
I am soooo confused! :huh:0 -
Well my query doesn't matter any more.
We all got notice yesterday that the new compnay ain't buying the business.
We were told our services are no longer required after today and we can have the last week off paid.0 -
Sorry to hear that, kazzieg. Hope you get something better soon.
But get down to the Jobcentre on Monday, just in case.0
