HC2 Form - Student

I have been told to get a HC2 form as I am a student and do not have to pay for prescriptions. However getting hold of this document seems unlikely. I've asked the post office, they give me a HC1 form, I rant the NHS up and they send me a HC1 form...anyone know where I can get a HC2 form so I can get my certificate?!

Opticians are often the best places to obtain these forms as everyone seems to get them from a dentist and they seem to run out. That is where we got them from when my son was a student. He was turned down for his when he first applied because he told them that we gave him money towards his rent. We only gave him £25 per week ( this was about 8 years ago) the only income he had apart from this was his student loan so there was no way he could survive on that. I phoned them to find out why they had turned him down and that was what they told me, so I told them that I was no longer giving it to him as I could not afford it they said he would need to re apply which he did ommitting the £25 and he was given the HC2. I don't know what they expected him to live on.0

My daughter was in a similar situation when she was at university. We applied for the free prescriptions, dental treatment etc and were turned down. However, her only source of support was us. We had to pay full fees and got no other help whatsoever. I wrote an impassioned letter to the relevant department and the decision was reversed. She got her exemption certificate.0

re-awakening this thread: My student son was just refused an HC2, I discovered this is because the student LOAN is taken to be INCOME. Is this correct?0

On the HC1 form it states "we will consider a student loan to be income if you would be entitled to claim one, whether or not you choose to take it up. This includes any income and non-income related parts." I think this might be interpreted as the loan for fees is included as income!
As far as I can work out, they balance your "income" against your "requirements", which includes a living allowance of £50.95 + housing costs. Housing costs are not included if you live with relatives, even if you pay rent.0 -
The student services on your university campus should have the HC1 which you submit to gain a HC2Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
you can get hold of them at any NHS doctors practice, NHS optician or NHS dentist. you can even ask for one at your local pharmacy.0
