Ps1?

Options
Hi there,

I've got a PS1 (birthday pressie from my children 4 years ago) and I've got a few games but don't know where to buy new (to me) ones. I know they will have to be pre-owned because they aren't made anymore due to PS2 and PSP, but can't find any. Does anyone know where I can get them? I prefer child friendly ones (that's about my level lol), no violent/race ones.

Thanks.

  • Try ebay auctions. They have hundreds for sale at various prices. Also some of the games shops sell pre owned ones at a good price. If you want new ones they still sell them at simplygames, or they did last time I looked. Hope that helps.

I remember Dixons where selling the PS1 about a month back with 2 games and 2 pads plus a memory card for £15 but not sure if they will still have any left at that price.

You could try places like cash convertors or Game as my brother sold his PS1 to them and they game him £5 so they must not be selling them for much more or as stated above ebay would be a good place to look
  • We got a PSOne from Currys (thanks to MSE) as a Christmas present for the Shaboo formerly known as Princess aka Little Miss Shaboo.

She played happily on it yesterday with the included Spyro game but decided it was a bit too hard and could she get something a little easier.

This morning whilst shopping in Morrisons (Whitley Bay) I saw they had a 'Bargain Bin' with a load of PC Games and PSOne games, the PSOne games were £2.99 each or 2 for £5.

Not sure if the games are much kop but I picked up 'Baby Felix Tennis', 'XS Airboat Racing', 'Rugrats - Search for Reptar' and 'Dalmations' (not the Disney ones) which were all marked as suitable for age 3+ (she's 6).

They also had a Pinball title, Tony Hawks Skateboarding (4 I think), Actua(?) Soccer and several others which were probably violent/race ones though.

So if there's a Morrisons nearby might be worth a visit.

  • Tons at car boot sales or you could save the money you were going to spend on old PS1 games and put it towards a newer console

Bought loads of games from them in different formats for my son and nephews and always had good service.

A lot of game shops have the used PS1 games underneath the used PS2 games in the big baskets in the middle of the store rather than on the shelves.
You can also get some dead cheap ones on Amazon Marketplace.

In store they do buy one get one free on some cheap preowned games like I got Wipeout and Tekken £2.99 for PS1 and Soul calibur and Virtua tennis on DC for £3.99.

Game do 5 for £10 i think but they don't usually have a big or good selection.

There is CEX is liverpool and london and other places. They have the odd game and you can check stock at https://www.cex.co.uk

Gee guys, thanks for all your info - I had thought about getting a ps2 so may look at that option - I assume it will play all the ps1 games I already have. Correct me if I'm wrong please!

    Here's to happy playing!
