any way i am starting maternity leave on december 7th and the jobcentre i hope will be paying me maternity allowance as my employer again cant pay this benefit....
today i get a letter from hm revenue and customs saying i could end up paying to much tax so please complete this form...it wants to know what i have been doing since april this year,
has any one else had one of these letters ?? do they send them out if they think they owe you money ??

  • I had one of those and it was because I hadn't been working - ended up with a lovely refund!

The tax office just want to update their records. Any refund due will be paid by the JC either when you sign off or at the end of the tax year.
£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths
  • The part saying "you might be due a refund" while being possible, I think was just put on there to make people more willing to fill them in. It sounds better than them just saying "we want to update our records. We're not going to give you anything for doing it but please fill in this form."

Most people end up with a repayment after completion of P91/P92.
