Ask to speak to the manager, take their name & note the date & time of call and follow every cancellation up in writing as soon as you can.0

Hello
I was in a similar situation last year and cancelled my wedding 10 days before  ended up losing a lot but all the main suppliers were very sympathetic and offered monies back minus deposits. If there is any chance that they will postpone it (you haven't mentioned the circumstance in which it was cancelled) then supplies will be more happy that they will get a future booking so tend to be mroe favourable, in my experience.
I sold a lot of stuff on ebay, like other people have said, vouchers retain almost face value on there. With regards your made to measure dress, again ebay or any local classifieds might be the way to go?

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to the Weddings board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
I know that probably sounds upside down, but I'm sure the people over there will have some more help!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi there - before you start with the cancellations be absolutely sure the wedding is most definitely off. Many couples have blips/arguements in the wedding run up (myself included) as its a very stressful time - particularly for the bride. Is there absolutely no chance of a reconciliation here??MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

the toddler's dress, if you dont want the risk of selling it on ebay maybe see if you can negotiate with the shop, they may have cut the material but not actually making the dress would mean no more labour costs? surely the £75 would cover the cut material and more,Yes Your Dukeiness

I think that you should ask DSD to help you with regard to making the cancellations, perhaps you could share the list between yourselves? You will need to get a move on with cancelling the venue, florists, photographer, caterer etc because the longer you leave it you may end up having to pay the full amount and have nothing to show for it. You would also need to see the contracts that were signed with the various suppliers to see what their cancellation policies are as this will help you see what you may be entitled too by way of a refund, if any. Be prepared because you may have to pay 75% of the cost...read the contracts and in particular their cancellation policy because the amount will vary from company to company. I don't mean to frighten you but I am speaking from a wedding planner's point of view as I know how suppliers work.
With regard to the made to measure dress in particular, as the material has been cut then I doubt that you would get your money back, you could offer the dress back to the shop to see if they can sell it for you.
Again, is the wedding off, or as someone else has suggested is it a lover's spat whereby next week they will decide that the wedding is back on?
If DSD has taken out wedding insurance - have a look at the policy and see if she is covered for calling off the wedding.
Good luck.0 -
