Hi all
My niece's birthday is on the 31st Dec and she turns 2yr old. Any ideas as to what to give her?
I am not sure what she is in to plus it would of been Christmas the week before too so she would of had lots of toys i expect.
Also i would love to keep it as low cost as poss (money-saving and christmas etc), prefer £10 and under (i am not mean i am not close to that side of the family and we only really buy token pressies for eachothers children).
Thanks in advance for any ideas

Id ask her mother if she was getting anything for xmas off santa or another family member that may require add ons? Ie dolls clothes? or more food if she got one of those supermarkets etc
Id play it safe and askLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

funnily enough my DD will be 2 on 31st Dec too!
We take all the decs down on the 27th/28th to signal an end to xmas and then have a couple of 'normal' days before decorating with balloon etc for DD birthday!
THis year I have kept birthday seperate as far as pressies go eg she has a dolls house for birthday.
One thing I try to do is buy presents for her birthday that are too old for her IFYKWIM. For example the dolls house, she might not play with it much now but in 6 months time she will. My DS birthday is in May so it's quite easy to get age appropriate toys and gifts but harder for DD with her B'day so close to xmas.
Talk to her mum, see what she likes and maybe get something that she will grow into like a dolls house, little bag, pushchair (ASDA do a cheapy one for £4 I think, DD & DS have given our one quite a battering in 6 mths and it's still going strong!). I find my DD is starting to get into dressing up so maybe get an outfit or if even make one if you are that way inclined!
I can;t really think of any more but I will come back if I have any more inspiration!

My DS2 will be 2 at the start of January and some of the things we've bought him for xmas or his birthday are:
Set of muscial instruments - Asda are selling instruments for £2 each (things like triangle, shakers). I think they are 3 for £5. I bought a plastic recorder in Tesco for £1 and a tin drum from Home Bargains for £3.99.
I made up a craft box of goodies. I raided Poundland and other cheapie shops for colouring books and sets, made some crayon cakes from old crayons, got playdoh sets in Sainsburys half price, finger paints (99p store I think?), Dora aqua draw set half price in Tesco and other bits.
Other ideas:
M&S have some great toys on 3 for 2 and if you buy today you get an extra 20% off. They do a toaster, kettle, iron all £5 each but would be £8 for the 3 today.
Nice pyjamas and a book - QS had children's pyjama sets half price last week. Primark are good for girls pyjamas. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
