Company Fuel Card

in Cutting tax
Hi,
I have recently started a new job and have been given a company car and a fuel card.
I agreed to "pay back" private miles at a rate of 10p per mile as this will help with my tax code and keep the tax man happy.
My question is a simple one :
Do I pay tax just for having the use of a fuel card even although I pay for my private miles ?
Any help would be appreciated.

As long as you can prove that you do repay ALL private mileage then you will only be assesed for tax on the company car as a benefit on kind.
I suggest keeping a log of all your private mileage and the amounts you repay to your employer.Running challenge 2014 = 689k / 800k0 -
Yeah, I will be keeping a log.
The private mile deductions will also be shown on my monthly payslips so this should be enough for the taxman.
Thanks for the answer that you have now cleared up.
I have spoke to people recently but a lot of them, for whatever reaso, seem to think that you get taxed just for HAVING a fuelcard, even if you pay for ALL your private miles.0 -
Just for clarification,
Private mileage does also include travel to and from your usual place of work i.e. home to the officea dn home again.Running challenge 2014 = 689k / 800k0
