    Can't you take sandwiches?
well not really as i am out the house from 7:30am till 10pm, i don't get my break in work till about 7pm, so can't have sandwiches sitting in my bag all day in college, then in my bag in work.

make your sandwiches up the night before, put them in the freezer, then let them thaw till lunchtime, will save you one lot of expenditure. And how about putting an add on freecycle for a bike, and cycle to college - get fit and save £11.50 a week.....

think about using the money creatively..

Yes, you can! Wrap 'em in clingfilm and stick 'em in a plastic box (tupperware or similar), and they'll last at least 24 hours - I frequently make my sandwiches for the next day the night before, stick them in the fridge, pack them in the morning with some fruit, and eat them about 2pm, so that's about 16 hours between making and munching. Hasn't done me any harm! Also only costs about £1 a day, including the fruit!

yeah but i wouldn't be eatting them till 7pm.
Plus would have to buy all the stuff in to make sandwiches, as well as some wee cartons of juice, crisps, chocolate etc.
  • How about taking something like Pot Noodles to work? I know they're not particulary healthy but they fill you up and if you get them on offer then they're normally under a £1 each!! What's your budget for food for a day? You could at least take sandwiches for lunch in the afternoon!? Though if you're anything like me and dislike sandwiches - buy cheap Pasta and sauce and make that up in bulk and freeze in little containers - put in the fridge the night before and they'll be defrosted for lunch time!! Or another idea for lunch is to get Pizza when on offer for about a £1 and half that for lunch should fill you up for 50p a day!! :)

If you worked out how much you spend a year on it, and the cost of the alternative, it might persuade you. Say £5/dayx5x48, add on 30% (storecards), makes £1560 (close to 6 months pay). Replace juice with a 1p teabag, monitor the bakery/supermarket late night reductions etc, you should be able to cut it in half easily, and still have the odd hot meal.

Can I just clarify, do you have 2 0% overdrafts (the RBS one if it exists doesn't appear in the SOA as a debt), and are you sure they are both 0%?

BOS - you owe £1100? Effectively closed and paying it back at £100/month
RBS - you currently owe £1355? Overdraft limit £1400?

Yeah i have 2 student accounts, one with BOS, which i don't know if it is closed or not but on't have card or get statements for it anymore.
And my current bank account with RBS

I don't have a food budget. But to get a meal in my works staff canteen it's only 50p, or like a roll and sausage is only 35p

In that case eat ALL your meals in college. And buy extra to sell at a profit :)

Seriously, at those prices you'd be silly not to eat there.

I'm going to go against the trend and say pay off New Look 1st. That way you will have the satisfaction of knowing you've paid a debt off, and if you are talking about 2 months, maybe 3, to pay it off the difference in interest won't be that high.

I hope you have now cut all those cards up :naughty:

    Good luck!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

not in college canteen, in work!
  • Buy a bag of cous cous, some spring onions, pound of tomatoes, a lemon and some raisins or an apple. Total cost around £2.20. That will give you cous cous salad all week if you wanted it!
